Even as they attempted to modify this rape-related provision found in two pieces of legislation, H.R. 3 and H.R. 358, these lawmakers inserted a new provision on page six of H.R.358, sponsored by Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Pa.), that would allow hospitals to refuse to provide abortion care when necessary to save a woman’s life.
You’re not serious?! No you are, you are so serious.
Take note: NONE OF THESE PEOPLE CARE ABOUT YOU, OK! They talk big talk about “the working man” and “bootstraps”, but remember, at the moment in your life when you probably need someone to do something, need someone there for you the most…they would rather let you die.
Exactly. They care about The Working Man… but they don’t give two shits about women outside of their capability as incubators.
OK GUISE. I’ve read through the bill, and even downloaded the pdf to find exactly where “page 6” is.
First of all, the new revised bill doesn’t take out “forcible” on forcible rape. Second, I can’t find anywhere that says it would allow hospitals to deny abortions in life threatening situations.
I’m not a legal scholar, so a little help here?
It added “forcible” (C.1.A) so that women who become pregnant by “non-forcible” rape would not be able to receive any abortion through a federally-funded medical program.
And in G.1.A-D, it says health care providers will not be subject to “discrimination” if they refuse to provide abortions. AKA, you can’t force your hospital to give you an abortion, even if your life is at stake.
If anyone who’s better with legalese could take a look, I’d appreciate it.
i don’t fucking understand how you could refuse someone who needs serious medical attention help, regardless of the reason. why make a woman who needs a life-saving abortion less important than, say, a criminal? a criminal is just as much a human being as me and if this person was dying, i would hope that a doctor was moral enough to feel that saving his or her life was just as important and valuable as if the doctor saved any other human life. yet, a woman carrying a baby that will kill her is not an important person. a woman is never an important person, at least not in this world.
